Offline app privacy and security
Does the Offline app process everything on my device?
Yes. The data file, template, and merged output are all processed entirely on your device, and the merge works fully offline once licensed. No document content is sent to MailMergic or any third party.
Does the Offline app collect analytics, telemetry, or crash reports?
No. There is no active analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting, and no filenames, metadata, or content extracts are sent anywhere. Diagnostic logs stay on your device unless you email them to us yourself.
Does the Offline app use AI or send data to Anthropic?
No. The Anthropic-backed data validation runs only in the cloud service. The desktop AI helpers are disabled and the build ships with no API key, so it makes no external AI calls.
What does the Offline app send over the internet?
Only license validation, an anti-tamper time check, and update checks, none of which carry document or recipient data. Email sending is the sole feature that transmits recipient details, and only through your own SMTP server.
Do I need a Data Processing Agreement for the Offline app?
No. A desktop EULA governs the app, and because processing is local, MailMergic is not a processor for your documents. The cloud DPA applies to the online service only.
What is the basis for the Offline app's HIPAA, PCI, and GDPR compliance?
It is architectural: your data never leaves your device. MailMergic holds no separate ISO 27001, SOC 2, or penetration-test attestation for the offline app; those certifications belong to the cloud hosting provider.
Are the downloads code-signed, and how are updates secured?
Yes. Windows builds are Authenticode signed via Azure Trusted Signing and macOS builds use an Apple Developer ID certificate. Updates arrive over HTTPS through the built-in auto-updater.
Where does the Offline app store my files?
Inside your OS user profile: templates and fonts in a File Storage folder, the database and backups in a Database folder, transient files in the OS temp directory, and finished output in a timestamped sub-folder of your Documents folder.
